I moved to Berkeley, California in December, 1968 and slowly carved out a career as a photographer shooting a range of subjects from products to models to architecture.  I had a REAL job working nights as a machinist while doing photography during the days and weekends.  In 1976 I took the plunge and quit my regular job to do photography full time.  In the mid 1980's I started doing books, starting off by photographing and collaborating with a writer and gradually drifting into writing and photographing.  My 27th book, Mobile Mansions, came out in March 2006 and I have four more that will come out in the next few months.  My wife, the Hon. Sandra McLean, and I moved to Chico California (about 150 miles NE of San Francisco) in 2000.  Chico is a bit like Lincoln was when I was growing up, a college town surrounded by rural areas.  Of course, we don't have snow and we have some big 'ol mountains out the back door.  My wife and I travel extensively, but I travel more because of my work.  The travel gets in the way of my real passion, softball, which is a bit of a religion here in Chico.  I'm on three different teams, two senior teams and one in a league full of youngsters where I'm referred to as a rapidly aging singles hitter.
