7/1/11 Update: After 37 years with Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne (and prior heritage companies), I retired in June 2010 to enjoy the next phase of life. I've been married 40 years to my wife, Maureen, who blessed us with two children, Aubrey and Eric. Our two granddaughters, ages 7 and 3, keep us very busy (and exhausted) when we babysit, which we try to do as much as possible. Maureen just retired in June 2011 so now we can savor our time together at our home in Mammoth Lakes, CA. We enjoy the mountain environment with skiiing, fishing, hiking, exploring, rock hounding, local concerts, etc. Our record snowfall of 56 feet on the Mountain this year (not a typo!) was a little overwhelming but otherwise we are enjoying the good life here. I have to admit that I miss my responsibilities at Rocketdyne, which were both challenging and rewarding. My last two projects were working on a propulsion system for a flying motorcycle/jeep for the Marines and developing processes to extract oxygen from the oxides in moon rocks. That way when we return to the Moon we can make the oxygen we need on site. But I have to say nothing beats retirement, where every day is a Saturday! If you are planning to visit Mammoth Lakes, please send me an email so we can arrange to get together.
I would really like to attend a "45 year" reunion. I haven't been able to get back since the 20 year reunion and miss seeing all of my fellow Knights. We are not getting any younger and many of us may not be around to attend a 50 year reunion. What can I do to help "make it happen"? |
